Do SCX GT's goe well at MHSC, I should say so, last night we had a fun night for just these cars, and the racing was spectacular to say the least, some of the races were decided by tenths of a second, and thats after fifteen laps. I will write this from my point of view as the night started badly for me. As we dont runt hese cars as a matter of course, I had to find my car from the last event, and having found it I decided to run it in as if new, I had the motor running for about 8hrs at 6 volts, and had change the direction two or three times, and then decided to redress the tyres, so I put some oil on a sand board, and turned the power up to twlve volts, put the rear tyres on the board and suddenly the engine melted, the stupid flange pickup sprang of the motor!, so I had to get a new car as the motor scx 6c2 is not replaceable, (another problem), I went to see Nic, and on Matts advice purchased the excellent Audi 80 scx pro race car, this had to be changed as the spec didnt allow grub fix wheels or gears, so I stripped the Dome that had popped its clogs and fitted the bits to the Audi, it all went together to my suprise and proved quite fast with no running in. The first race was
LANE DRIVER Fastest lap Position Total time Red Matt 8.23 4 2.10.51 Yellow Roland 8.09 3 2.08.54 Blue Spare White Ric 7.94 2 2.02.40 Brown Paul 7.43 1 1.53.05 Green Crazy G 8.06 5 2.10.91
The second race was
Lane Driver Fastest lap Position Total time Red Brian 8.91 4 2.23.54 Yellow Ken 7.83 1 2.02.94 Blue Nic 8.55 5 2.28.37 White Martin 8.02 3 2.12.67 Brown Gary 8.42 2 2.12.56 Green spare
As you can see the racing was quite close, with 7 second laps by most drivers, as with all tracks there is always one survival lane and with MHSC its the red lane that proves to be the most difficult, and so it proved with this class as Paul was the only person all night who managed a 7 second lap. Nic spent some time trying the new slotit all singing all dancing electronic controller, which he had found OK in practise, but in the light of competition, it proved somewhat difficult to setup, but I am sure that with more practise it will prove a very usefull bit of Kit. The final results for the night were
Position Name best lap total time
First Paul 7.43 9.45.62 Second Ken 7.64 9.59.62 Third Matt 7.60 9.59.88 Fourth Ric 7.84 10.18.44 Fith Roland 7.94 10.25.60 Six Martin 7.95 10.32.95 Seventh Crazy G 7.95 10.48.69 Eight Gray 8.11 10.55.77 Nineth Brian 8.30 11.10.35 Tenth Nic 8.20 11.24.46
Very close between second and third as you can see, maybe Matt regrets his advice on the audi, but he normally beats me by miles, so it makes a change for me to beat him, and as for the time that Paul won bye, this would have been at least 8 seconds quicker if I hadnt had a problem marshelling his car, I can only say sorry again, but as you can see it had very little impact on the overall resultu
